Wear Mechanism of Mud Pipe and Common Wear resistant Materials
1. Wear mechanism of mud pipe
There are many kinds of soil that can be excavated by the dredger, including stone, coarse sand, medium and fine sand, fine silt, pebble, clay, silt, etc. All kinds of soil will inevitably wear the inner wall of the mud pipe to varying degrees during transportation in the mud pipe. In the micro state, the flowing wear particles cut the metal surface of the mud pipe, so that the metal is stripped from the metal matrix by the wear particles. With the use of the mud pipe, the metal on the flow side of the mud pipe is stripped more and more seriously, until the mud pipe is worn and damaged.
2. Chromium carbide high wear-resistant composite mud pipe WRP used in real ships
Before the wear-resistant materials are applied to the mud pipe, the mud pipe is generally made of ordinary low-carbon steel plate (Q235) or 16Mn steel plate with better strength than Q235. The service life of mud pipe made of ordinary carbon steel varies according to the position of use and the degree of soil wear, but it is basically about one and a half years, especially when the soil is quartz sand and clay, The degree of wear is more serious, and the service life is shorter. When the thickness of ordinary mud pipe is too thin or even perforated, it is usually repaired by means of on-site cladding or overlaying welding. The repair welding workload is large, and the construction quality is not ideal. At the same time, it needs to be repaired repeatedly at the same part for many times. On the other hand, it requires a certain period to manufacture new mud pipe due to the limitation of ship construction conditions, In addition, when replacing the mud pipe, the construction needs to be stopped and the replacement of new pipe requires a large amount of disassembly work, which makes the use of ordinary mud pipe directly affect the construction state of the dredger. With the development of wear-resistant materials, various wear-resistant materials have been put into the dredging industry, greatly improving the construction efficiency of dredgers.
After the high abrasion resistant composite mud pipe WRP is applied to the dredging pipeline, whether from the experimental results of ASTM G65 test or the actual use in dredging construction, it has been proved that the wear resistance of the mud pipe made of abrasion resistant materials is far superior to that of ordinary carbon steel. The drag suction dredgers built in China have started to use mud pipes made of wear-resistant materials, that is, high wear-resistant composite mud pipe WRP.
